Meet Dr. Wong

Dr. Wong, Dentist

Dr. Wong grew up in Vancouver, and is an alumna of the University of British Columbia, where she earned both her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Medicine degrees in 1996 and 2000, respectively.

She completed a summer externship in general dentistry and oral surgery at the Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, New York, between her third and fourth years of her dental program.

Dr. Wong had the enjoyable and invaluable experience of working with her father, now a retired dentist, in private practice in Vancouver for six years before moving to Winnipeg in 2006.

Inspired by several of her own instructors in dental school, she began teaching as a part-time clinical instructor at the UBC Faculty of Dentistry in 2003, and then continued her teaching in Winnipeg, at the University of Manitoba’s dental school as well as at Red River Community College.

Winnipeg Dentist, Doctor Wong

Volunteer work remains an integral part of Dr. Wong’s practice goals, and past experiences have included dental missions to Central America, providing care at the Saul Sair Health Centre at Siloam Mission, as well as participation in the Manitoba Dental Association’s annual Open Wide campaigns.

Dr. Wong strives to continually learn about new dental theories, techniques, and technologies, and though she enjoys all the various disciplines encompassed by general dentistry, her present focus is with the Healthy Start appliance program in our sleep disordered breathing clinic.

Her philosophy on dental care is to provide respectful, compassionate, and excellent treatment to well-informed patients, to the best of her ability.

Married since 2007, Dr. Wong and her husband Mel have three young boys, Kieran, Elliot, and Lochlan, and a fox terrier, Shamrock.

During her downtime, she can be found pursuing her hobbies, including biking in the summer, snowboarding in the winter, reading, baking, and travelling the world, a passion that has led her to visit over 40 countries worldwide. Dr. Wong is fluent in both English and Cantonese.
