Meet Dr. Segstro

Dr. Ron Segstro, Anesthesiologist

Dr. Segstro is the medical director at Concord Surgical Suite. He holds a Honours degree in Physics and an undergraduate medical degree (MD) from the University of Manitoba. His fellowship Anesthesiology training was at the University of Western Ontario and the University of Manitoba.

He has been practising Anesthesia in Winnipeg since 1992 and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesia at the University of Manitoba and has had a number of publications in the fields of basic science and clinical anesthesia.

In addition to his clinical work,he has been active in administration as the co-Head of Anesthesia at Seven Oaks General Hospital (2005-2007) and has been chair of the Anesthesia Equipment Committee at both Seven Oaks Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre (1997-2007).

Dr. Segstro is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as a member of the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society, the American Society of Anesthesiology and the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia.

His anesthesia career has taken him as far as Haiti, where he worked in medical missions serving adults and children. He has a love for children, and strives to put both children and their parents at ease.

When he is not working, Dr. Segstro enjoys the outdoors, especially camping and canoeing with his family and and his labradoodle, Bentley.
