Dr. Fareea Surtie is a board certified pediatric dentist. She completed her Bachelor of Science with distinction at the University of Saskatchewan, and obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2013. After 4 years of practising general dentistry, she found that her passion lay in treating pediatric patients and those with special health care needs. This led her to pursue a Masters in Dentistry and Pediatric Dentistry Specialty training at the University of Manitoba and the Children's Hospital in Winnipeg. She is currently a clinical instructor for undergraduate dental students and pediatric dentistry residents at the University of Manitoba.
Dr. Surtie aims to extinguish dental anxiety by offering positive experiences in the dental chair. She believes that each child has a different comfort level in the dental environment and adapts her approach to suit each patient and family. Her goal is to create a warm and child-friendly environment to protect the child’s well-being, and instill a sense of trust.
In her spare time, Dr. Surtie has participated in several dental missions in Guatemala, Cambodia and Peru. She also enjoys exploring Manitoba, cycling and learning to ski!
